Registration and Membership

Once you have completed your registration and you have been verified as a genuine JOTS buyer, you will be sent your login details at the email address you provided. Once your membership is activated, you will be able to login to the website and access the Members' Area which includes News and Updates, Site Reports, etc. This will also enable you to submit topics and posts to the forum.

 


 

Customising my Profile

Once you have registered and are logged into the website, go to the forum page and choose Profile from the drop-down menu under User List in the headings at the top.

Enter Your Personal Data

Title

When visible you may enter your own title, if no title is entered the title will default based on forum defaults and posting history. Administrators can create custom titles for a user by editing the user's profile.

Location

You may enter a description of your location here, used based on the town/city/country you reside in.

Latitude

The Latitude of your location. This may be entered manually or will be automatically determined by clicking on your location on the above Google map.

Longitude

The longitude of your location. This may be entered manually or will be automatically determined by clicking on your location on the above Google map.

Gender

Select the radial box to show your gender, or select Do Not Display to hide your gender from other users.

Birthdate

Use the dropdowns to select your birthday, the forum will advise other users when it is your birthday. The administrators of the forum may further use this to contact you on this day, or for demographic analysis of their users.

Interests

You may select the Do Not Display Interest radial box to hide your interests, or enter your interests in the provided text area.

About Me

You may write anything you'd like others to know about you, and may include BBCode for advanced editing as well as graphics and attachments if enabled.

Messaging

Here you may enter information for external messaging services that other users can use to contact you these include:

* Jabber
* ICQ
* MSN
* AOL Instant Messenger
* Yahoo Instant Messenger
* Xfire
* Skype

 

Personality


This section is used to manage your Avatar as well as the signature that will optionally be attached to all you posts

Avatar Display options

An avatar is a small image that will be displayed with all your posts.

Note: by default the avatar must not exceed 100 x 100 px and 102400 Bytes (100 KB).

Use Avatar

In order for the Avatar to be visible to other users, the Use Avatar checkbox must be checked.

Upload Avatar

Clicking Upload Avatar will open the upload page.

Browse

Will open a file explorer on your computer in order to select the graphic file you want to use as your avatar.

Upload

Will start the transfer of the file to the forum's server so that it can be viewed by other users of the forum.

Back

Will cancel the operation and take you back to the Profile personality page.

Change Avatar

Allows you to select an avatar from existing avatar galleries, the galleries may include other user's uploaded avatars as well as predefined avatars.

Delete Avatar

remove your avatar from your profile as well as the server (if you have uploaded a custom avatar).

Compose Signature

A signature is a small piece of text that is attached to your posts. In it, you can enter just about anything you like. Perhaps you would like to enter your favorite quote or your star sign. It's up to you! In your signature you can use BBCode if it is allowed in this particular forum. You can see the features that are allowed/enabled listed below whenever you edit your signature.

Display

Here you can change the default display features to better suit your needs.

Set Your Options for Viewing Posts

These features are generally enabled by default (except reverse ordering). If you are on a slow connection, disabling these options, particularly showing images in posts and signatures, will make pages load faster.

Show smilies as graphic icons

With this enabled (checked) text characters that are associated to a graphic smiley are automatically displayed as graphics.

Show user avatars in posts

Shows the Avatar of the poster in the author information area (usually to the left of the message).

Show images in posts

When enabled the graphics are displayed inside the post. When disabled a link will be displayed where the graphic can be downloaded.

Show images in user signatures

With this enabled the graphics are displayed inside the poster's signature. When disabled a link will be displayed where the graphic can be downloaded.

Show posts in reverse chronological order

With this enabled the replies in a topic will be ordered starting with the newest and ending with the original post. By default this is disabled, and the post will be ordered starting with the oldest and ending with the newest.

Set Your Options for Viewing Posts 2

This second section of Set your Options for viewing posts allows the user to set the number of posts or topics that are listed on a single page.

Topics

Enter the number of topic you would like displayed, this affect both the Forum View as well as Topic View.

Note: if left blank the default number of topics will be displayed as defined by the Agora administrator backend (usually 10)

Posts

Enter the number of posts you'd like to see per page, this includes the original post as well as the replies to that post. Note: if left blank the default number of posts will be displayed as defined by the Agora administrator backend (usually 5)

Preview Profile

Preview the information that you have entered in your profile, this page will give you an easy way the verify the information you have enetered when editing your profile.

 


 

Forums

This forum has been designed to enable property buyers the opportunity to share information and concerns about their investments. The organisers of the website are existing purchasers and are in no way connected whatsoever with the developers, organisers, promoters or solicitors affiliated with the development.

Here are some guidelines about the use of the forums.

Topic Icons

You may select an icon to include in the Subject. By selecting the radio box in front of the graphic, this graphic will show in the Forum or Topic view in front of the Topic's Subject. The graphic may be changed later by editing the first post in the topic.

Subject


The main identification of the topic's discussion. This will also become the link that needs to be clicked in order to enter the discussion from the Forum or topic View.

Characters (Subject)

The number of characters remaining that may be allowed in the Subject line.

Description

This fields allow you to enter more information regarding the Topic, it also becomes that Topic's meta description.

Advanced Editor Menu

This menu consists of icons that can be used to insert BBCode into the message.

Characters (Message)

The number of characters remaining that are allowed in the post.

Options

You may enable or disable the following options for this particular post.

Hide Smilies

By selecting the box in front of Hide Smilies your are able to override the conversion of text to graphic smilies for this one post.

Subscribe


Checking this radio box before submitting your Quick Post will subscribe you to the topic. Whenever a new post is added to the topic you have subscribed to, you will receive an email notification.

Submit

Clicking the Submit button will enter your post into the discussion. You can use the Editing Tools later to edit or delete your post if it is incorrect.

Preview


Clicking the Preview button will show you what your post will look like before you submit it. This is especially useful if you used BBCode, added attachments or embedded media.

Back

Clicking the Back button will return you to the previous forum or topic view.
Note: All changes will be canceled.

 



How to report Abuse

If you have any form of complaint, please use the Report Abuse facility located on the Contact Menu.

 

 



How to inform us of a change to your personal information

If you would like to change any details in relation to your profile, eg. your username, please use the Contact Us link in the Contact Menu and submit your required changes. We will respond to your request as soon as possible.

 



How to share your opinion of your JOT experience so far

As we have explained previously, the purpose of this website is to promote communication between property buyers. It is therefore important that you have a secure and confidential facility through which you can share your concerns and experiences and further decide whether you wish this information to be made available to other members of this website.

By clicking on the Express Your Opinion link in the Contact Menu, you can complete a form rating your experiences with all the services you have encountered in relation to your JOTS purchase. It is enitrely up to you whether you submit the form from you or anonymously. The information will be treated in the strictest confidence and used to create a "Customer Satisfaction" report that will be published and updated on a regular basis on this website. All contributors to the survey will remain completely anonymous for the purposes of publishing the results.

 



How to upload your photos to the Gallery

We would be delighted if you want to share your photos of the JOTS development and surrounding areas. Recent site visits would be of particular interest to most of our members. To upload your photos, you can use our Upload facility which can be found in the Contact Menu.

If you have multiple files, you can either submit them singularly using as many of the upload fields as you require or alternatively, you can upload all your files together in a zip (compressed) file. Click on the Browse button to locate your chosen file for upload. When you have finished uploading your files, please press the Submit button once only. Please allow time for the upload to complete. Uploading speeds can vary as they are dependent upon the speed of your internet connection.

 



Subscription to Newletters and Emailed Communication

Most announcements will be made on the website as soon as we are given the information but we will send newsletters and bulletins out by email from time to time. If you would prefer not to receive communication by email, simply use the Unsubscribe facility which appears at the bottom of every mailshot. Your removal from the mailing list will be automatic and will take effect immediately. You will, of course, be able to activate your subscription at any time in the future by using the Contact Us form
